Yes there were somewhat fewer attendees at CES than in years past, but those who did come were ready to get down to business. In 2023 the emphasis was on wheeling and dealing more than socializing as attending companies looked to lock in partnerships for what’s anticipated to be a dynamic year ahead.
A number of industry players took to the C Space stage at CES to tackle the industry’s most pressing and exciting challenges. One standout session on the future of our data-driven industry was “Championing Fairness, Catalyzing Growth” with Bonin Bough, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer at Group Black, Brian DeCicco, NA Chief Data Strategy & Analytics Officer at Mindshare, Courtney Ballentini, VP, Marketing Communications & Design at Tyson Foods, and Bob Lord, Senior Vice President at IBM.
“The measurement we’ve used for decades is not going to work in this new media.”
– Bonin Bough
“Harnessing empathy is critical to competitive differentiation.”
– Brian DeCicco
“Context helps with effectiveness.”
– Courtney Ballentini
Jeff Minsky, lead analyst and head of innovation at industry intelligence organization MediaVillage shared an insight from the convention floor with Audigent saying, “we have moved from body to soul. There is nothing left to do with the body of television. We have stretched it, curved it, made it as bright and hi-def as the human eye can comprehend, and even made it scrollable. But there is incredible innovation and data in what the future holds for the content which that screen now shows. From a long-rich history of a passive viewing machine, TV will continue to entertain and enrich our lives with valuable stories, but now services from home energy management to physical fitness to NFT management and, of course, gaming are central to how TVs are evolving. And in this diverse, quite fragmented experience, we are seeing the greater role that AI will be playing in discovery and personalization; and allowing marketers to get a better view of individual behaviors on the one screen that continues to be a multi-user device.”
